The Migration to a Single Technology Platform Leads to Multiple Business Advantages for MFS

Challenge

MFS’ existing application server was scheduled for retirement. To avoid the risk of operating their online channel on an unsupported product, MFS wanted to port their web site and infrastructure from their current platform to IBM’s WebSphere® Portal and Interwoven’s TeamSite® 6.

Approach

Successfully completing the project on time and within budget relied on Molecular’s in-depth experience with IBM WebSphere and Interwoven technologies, coupled with the team’s deep problem-solving and program management skills. Molecular project leaders helped to unify the efforts of 20+ resources and team members into one seamless process and ensured that every aspect of the project lifecycle – from detailed requirements gathering and design, to implementation, testing and deployment – were coordinated with the greatest level of efficiency.  Further, working side-by-side with team members and stakeholders at the client site fostered collaborative relationships between Molecular and MFS and accelerated the transfer of knowledge critical for readiness and self-sufficiency.

Benefits

  • Standardizing on a single technology platform increases efficiency, promotes productivity and greatly reduces the costs and complexities associated with maintaining multiple platforms.
  • A robust IBM WebSphere portal infrastructure provides the flexibility to adapt and scale to changing business and technology needs with minimal effort and maximum speed.
  • The up-to-date and fully supported version of Interwoven TeamSite extends content management access to business users and ensures the rapid, accurate deployment of content across the enterprise.

"As a global financial services company that is using technology to increase productivity, lower operating costs, and improve our customers' experience, the use of IBM WebSphere Portal will help us meet these objectives. Molecular's intimate knowledge of our current and future state platforms, along with their careful planning, coordination and risk management, made them the ideal partner to help us complete a complex integration effort on time, within budget, and without disruption of service for our customers."
