Join your fellow educators from across the state as you discover new and innovative ways to improve IT education and workforce development. This one-day event features a variety of industry speakers from various career areas sharing the impacts, challenges, growth and demands of technology in their businesses through keynotes, panels and hands-on workshops.
Molecular’s Jeremy Kriegel, Consultant, User Experience and Amanda Flohr-Egile, Senior Specialist, User Experience will be presenting a workshop entitled, “Web 2.0 – What Is It and What Does It Mean?”
The term Web 2.0 has come onto the IT scene over the past few years. Simply stated, it refers to Web-based applications that are made to look like desktop applications, or a new generation of software to take advantage of Ajax. This session will address the definitions and technologies involved in this new wave of Web applications.
The Web has always been about people, but in a Web 2.0 world this is taking on a whole new meaning. During this presentation, Jeremy Kriegel and Amanda Flohr-Egile of Molecular will share how giving users more control and influence over one’s site unveils a new set of opportunities and challenges. How are user ratings and reviews, tagging, editorial control, user-generated content, and social networking changing the way you think about your site? How are sites dealing with negative user contributions, and what does all this mean when designing and building your site?
Molecular’s Manivone Phommahaxay, Senior Consultant, User Experience will be presenting a workshop entitled, “Developing a Website For a Global Audience”
This session will touch on the high level process and key learnings of designing Web experiences for global audiences. It draws from the practical experience of several internationalization projects to illustrate the steps to success as well as pitfalls to avoid in developing websites for multiple cultures and languages. Attendees will learn practical insights on the challenges, strategies, and lessons learned which are critical to the success of any internationalization project.
